SEDD Java™ Web Start (JWS) Tool Due to the fact that Microsoft will stop supporting Java™ Virtual Memory (JVM) on December 31, 2007, US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has developed the SEDD JWS Tool to replace the SEDD Web-Based Tool. The key difference between these two versions is that the Web-Based Version utilizes the JVM, and the JWS version does not. First Time JWS Tool Users
Purpose of the Staged Electronic Data Deliverable (SEDD) JWS Tool The Staged Electronic Data Deliverable (SEDD) JWS Tool's primary task is to convert local database data into an Extensible Markup Language (XML)-compliant file for delivery to other remote data systems. These remote systems can then use and/or import all, or subsets of, the data. The SEDD JWS Tool addresses the US Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) need to electronically receive analytical data from its contracting laboratories, and these laboratories' need to electronically deliver that data. Data must be in a reliable, secure, easy-to-use format that can be created and read by any computer system and be flexible enough to economically adapt to future needs. The SEDD JWS Tool is located at the Analytical Services Branch (ASB) Contractor's offices. A user account is required to log into the SEDD JWS Tool. Please contact Phil Cocuzza, EPA ASB, at cocuzza.phil@epa.gov, or Michael S. Johnson, EPA ASB, at johnson.michaels@epa.gov, for more information on how to apply for a SEDD JWS Tool account. A User Guide has been developed to provide general assistance for the currently available SEDD JWS Tool. The detailed contents have been broken down by the Tool's key functions and can be accessed via the side menu on this page. The complete Portable Document File (PDF) version is available for download: SEDD JWS Tool's User's Guide.
