Send Window


Component Descriptions

Use Table 6-1 and refer to Figure 6-1 to follow the component descriptions for the SEND window .

COMPONENT DESCRIPTION
FTP Tab -  
Host Name The name of the FTP host.
Directory The name of the directory name in which the file will be placed.
New File Name The new file name for the FTP server.
User ID The user ID for the server.
Password The user's password.
Anonymous Allows the user to login to the FTP server anonymously.
File Compression check box Allows the user to indicates if the XML file should be compressed before sending.
Send button Allows the user to submit the selected XML file to the USPEA SEDD system server.
Main button Returns to the SEDD MAIN MENU window.
Help button Provides the user with function-specific guidance.
E-mail Tab -  
From: The E-mail address of the sender.
To: The E-mail address of the receiver.
Mail Server: The E-mail server's full name.
Subject: The subject of the E-mail.
Message: The main message content of the E-mail.
As Attached: Allows the user to indicate if the XML file will be transmitted as an attached file. This is recommended.
Main button Returns the SEDD MAIN MENU window.
File Compression check box Allows the user to indicates if the XML file should be compressed before sending.
Send button Allows the user to submit the selected XML file to the USPEA SEDD system server.
Main button Returns to the SEDD MAIN MENU window.
Help button Provides the user with function-specific guidance.

 


SendXML deliverables generated by the SEDD system can be sent either through File Transfer Protocol (FTP) or E-mail. There are corresponding tabs for each method at the top of the SEND window. Please note that the E-mail option is under construction and will not be available for use until a future version of the system.Sending a File by FTP
Step 1

Click on the Send button from the MAIN MENU window to display the SEND window. Please note that the E-mail option is under construction and will not be available for use until a future version of the system.Step 2
The user must enter the following information when sending files to the SEDD system server via FTP:

  • Host Name: sedd.fedcsc.comDirectory: leave blankNew File Name: leave blankUser ID: sedd
  • Password: sedd

NOTE - If the {Anonymous:} check box is unchecked after the Password is entered, the Password will be overwritten.


Step 3
By default, the {File Compression:} check box is checked. It is recommended that files be compressed to speed up the transmission process.

Step 4
To select the file(s) to be sent, click on the file(s) in the Generated Files column. The selected file(s) will be highlighted.Step 5
Click on the Send button to submit the XML file(s) via FTP. A message will appear to confirm successful submission of the file(s).Step 6
Click on the Main button to return to the Main SEDD Menu.


Sending a File by E-mail

To send a file using E-mail, perform the steps below:

Step 1
Click on the Send button on the MAIN MENU window to display the SEND window.

Step 2
In the SEND window, click on the "E-mail" tab to display the E-mail method.

Step 3
Enter the following information to specify the destination and content of the E-mail:

  1. From: Sender's E-mail addressTo: Receiver's E-mail addressMail Server: Full name of the E-mail serverSubject: Subject of the E-Mail
  2. Message: Actual message content of the E-mail

Step 4
By default, the {As Attached:} check box is checked. It is recommended that the XML files be sent as attachments.

Step 5
Click on the file(s) in the Generated File column to select the file(s) to be sent. The selected file(s) will be highlighted.

Step 6
By default, the {File Compression:} check box is checked. It is recommened that files be compressed to speed up the transmission process.

Step 7
Click on the Send button to submit the XML file(s) through E-mail. A message will appear to confirm successful submission of the file(s).

Step 8
Click on the Main button to return to the Main SEDD Menu.


Security
Anytime the user transmits data over the Internet, a security alert will be displayed. Data transmitted over the Internet can be viewed by any third party unless that data is encrypted. SEDD system will have a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) to protect a user's information from being exposed over the Internet.
